On the back of revealing that the 2016 Lotus 3 had set a theoretical lap time around the Nurburgring of 7 minutes and 5 seconds, the British marque has released a short clip of its highest-performance model ever on the famed German circuit.
In coming to the time of 7 minutes and 5 seconds, Lotus combined the quickest sector times it recorded over two laps of the ‘Ring. While that fact means the Lotus 3 can’t be ranked amongst the fastest production cars around ‘Green Hell’ it does highlight just how fast and track focused the 3-Eleven is.
Powering the Lotus 3 is a tweaked variant of the 3.5-litre supercharged V6 from the already potent Evora 400. In 3 Eleven specification, it has been upgraded to deliver 450 hp at 7000 rpm and 332 lb-ft of torque between 3500 and 6500 rpm. That exceptional engine is then mated to a close ratio 6 speed manual transmission driving the rear wheels through a Torsen-type limited slip differential.
