The Porsche 911R has gone on display at the Geneva Show 2016. The Porsche goes back to its roots with a manual gearbox, rear wheel drive and a stripped out interior. Although the Porsche 911R does feature many of the mod-cons that make the current generation car such a success.

Porsche 911R

The Porsche 911R gets a four litre naturally aspirated flat six engine. Power is rated at 500hp with 460Nm of torque and is routed to the rear wheels via a six speed manual gearbox. Coupled with a low weight of 1,370 kilograms (50kg less than the GT3 RS, the Porsche 911R has that winning formula Porsche recently enjoyed with the Porsche Cayman GT4.

Despite the lack of aerodynamic parts, the Porsche 911R sits firmly among the motor sport inspired, track bred models, the 911 GT3 and 911 GT3 RS. It manages a 60 mph sprint of just 3.7 seconds with a top speed of 201 mph (323 km/h) yet still manages to return impressive fuel consumption of 21.2 mpg (13.3 l/100 km).

Lamborghini Centenario

The covers have been taken from the Centenario here at the Geneva Motor Show 2016 to a rapturous reception. The special edition Lamborghini is one of the Italian company’s most extreme creations yet. We took a closer look at the car on the show floor.

Lamborghini Centenario

The Lamborghini Centenario pays homage to Lamborghini’s founder, Ferrucio Lamborghini on the 100th anniversary of his birth. It is the most powerful Lamborghini to date with a naturally aspirated V12 engine pushing 770 hp. Performance is similarly impressive with 0 to 100 km/h in 2.8 sec, 0 to 300km/h in 23.5 sec and a top speed in excess of 350km/h.

Lamborghini Centenario

Lamborghini have fitted the Centenario with rear wheel steering, all wheel drive and a new carbon fibre monocoque. The body is fully carbon fibre and the Centenario is packed with full of technology. In spite of this, the Lamborghini weighs in at just 1,520kg with a power to weight ratio of 1.97kg/hp. Torsional stiffness is 35,000 Nm per degree.

Lamborghini Centenario

The Centenario is based upon the Lamborghini Aventador platform, yet measures slightly longer. Although the show car is an entirely carbon fiber finish, clients can specify their Centenario in exposed carbon fiber or any colour and finish from Lamborghini’s Ad Personam personalisation programme.
