The Red Bull Racing F1 team is on the brink of being forced out of the sport if it is unable to secure an engine supplier beyond this season.
While speaking with Reuters recently, Red Bull technical chief Newey Adrian revealed that the team’s relationship with Renault is beyond repair after RBR’s frustrating previous two seasons with Renault engines Additionally, Adrian confirmed that Ferrari and Mercedes have both refused to supply engines to RedBull, a team viewed as a championship competitor with the right engine.
“We’re possibly going to be forced out of Formula1, Ferrari and Mercedes have refused to supply us out of fear. Unfortunately, our relationship with Renault is pretty terminal, there’s been too much of a marriage breakdown, so we have no engine.”
While Adrian seems convinced that RedBull Racing can no longer work with Renault, Horner Christian did recently reveal that Red Bull could run out its contract with Renault through to the end of the 2016 season.
